Plan Review
The Plan Review staff are examiners who conduct reviews of proposed construction projects, building improvements, remodels, and additions to existing structures. Their goal is to ensure that fire and life safety is provided and maintained in any proposed construction project where plans are required. The basis of such review is according to the current California Building and Fire Codes.
The scope of work requiring review includes:
Fire Alarm Systems (auto/manual) | Green Building Elements |
Automatic Fire Sprinkler Systems | Energy Conservation Elements |
Fire-Resistant Construction | New Buildings or Structures |
The Use and/or Storage of Hazardous Materials | Major Tenant Improvements |
Hood/Duct Suppression Systems | Signs |
Occupancy Changes | Residential Additions |
Structural Elements/Systems | Pools |
Electrical, Mechanical, & Plumbing Elements | Patio Covers |
The City uses outside consultants/firms to assist with plan review projects when a project exceeds the technical expertise of City staff, when workload exceeds staff levels, or when special requests cannot be accommodated by City staff.
