Household Hazardous Waste

Household hazardous waste

The City of Tracy in partnership with San Joaquin County offers a free Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Event in Tracy annually in the spring.

List of Acceptable Items

San Joaquin County residents can dispose of their household hazardous waste, as well as unwanted electronics (E-Waste) and universal waste (U-Waste), at this event or at the County HHW facility. The County's HHW facility is located at 7850 R.A Bridgeford Street, Stockton and is open year-round Thursday - Sunday from 9am - 3pm for county residents to dispose of these items free of charge. There is also a re-use room of items that are available. For additional questions or concerns, residents can contact the San Joaquin County Household Hazardous Waste Facility directly at (209) 468-3066.

HHW products are usually marked with caution/warning labels and contain hazardous chemicals that may be toxic, flammable, corrosive, or reactive. It is illegal to dispose of these items in the garbage, down drains, or onto the ground, because they contain dangerous materials that threaten human health and the environment.

In addition to HHW, it is also illegal for consumers to dispose of unwanted electronics and universal waste in the garbage. Typical E-Waste and U-Waste items found in households may contain toxic or corrosive materials which can also pose a threat to the environment and our health. These items will also be collected free of charge.

Businesses with hazardous materials must call (800) 207-8222.
