On January 19, 2016, the City of Tracy was authorized to join The Community Foundation of San Joaquin (CFOSJ) The CFOSJ is a non-profit public charity that provides a mechanism for not-for-profit entities, to receive and use tax deductible donations. When receiving donations throughout the year, the City did not have a system with guidelines on how to specifically collect a donation. Due to the varying manners the donated money was dealt with, it was necessary for the City to join an organized system. This way the charitable donations collected would be going straight to projects in the City, such as Legacy Fields.

The CFOSJ also engages in fundraising activities to raise money for the Foundation. An example would be the Annual Super Bowl Raffle which raised over $500,000 this year. The money went to charities in San Joaquin, including the McHenry House, and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Tracy.
