T.M.C Section 10.08.4230 – 10.08.4560

As the name implies, a Sign Permit permits the installation of a sign. A Sign Permit is required for most types of signs. Questions related to Sign Permit requirements can be answered by a Planner in the City’s Community & Economic Development Department.

Step 1 Submit Application
The Sign Permit application form and the fee schedule are available on the City’s website. The application form contains a checklist of information needed to review the permit application.
1-7 days (typical)
Step 2 City Review
The Sign Permit application is reviewed by the Planning Division. The applicant may be contacted at any point in the City review process with requests for additional information, clarification or revisions to the plans. Note that in most cases, Building Permit(s) will also be required. Building Permits are processed by the Building Division after the Sign Permit is approved (see step 4).
7-14 days (typical)
Step 3 Applicant Response
Some projects require additional information or clarification by the applicant and/or revisions to the plans. This step is the applicant’s response to those requirements. The applicant’s response will be reviewed by the City and steps 2 and 3 may be repeated if necessary.
1-7 days (typical)
Step 4 Sign Permit Approval
Once the application is deemed complete and all requirements are met, City staff will approve the Sign Permit and pass it on to the Building Division for processing of Building Permit(s), if applicable.

Estimated Total Timeframe 9-28 days (typical)
