The Environmental Compliance section of the Utilities Department’s primary focus is regulating the Pretreatment Program.

The Pretreatment Program was created to enforce local, state, and federal wastewater regulations in order to protect the sanitary sewer collection system, the wastewater treatment plant, the public, and the environment.

The Environmental Compliance section, along with assistance from laboratory staff, also conducts source water and water distribution sampling, samples newly constructed water mains prior to connecting with the City system, and addresses consumer water taste and odor complaints.
