Traffic Safety
The Traffic Safety Section of the Engineering Division is responsible for improving the traffic flow and roadway safety of City of Tracy. The key responsibilities include:
- Plan the City’s roadway network according to the City’s Transportation Master Plan.
- Plan and implement the City’s traffic signal system, pedestrian access routes and bike lanes.
- Implement the Citywide Pavement Rehabilitation Program.
- Study the impacts of Development Projects on the roadway network and ascertain the necessary traffic mitigation measures.
- Conduct annual speed surveys and establish special speed zones.
- Coordinate the traffic investigations for signs, markings, traffic control devices, neighborhood traffic calming and parking issues.
The Section coordinates its efforts with the Regional Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) - San Joaquin Association of Governments (SJCOG), and the State Transportation Agency - California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).
